And then there are the ones you can truly feel.
Tequia and John’s wedding was the kind of day that wrapped everyone in warmth from the very beginning. From the moment their closest friends and loved ones gathered, it was clear this would be a deeply emotional, soulful wedding. One rooted in connection, tenderness, and love.
As a Black and Filipino couple, TeQuia and John thoughtfully blended their traditions in a way that felt meaningful and true to who they are. One of the most powerful moments of the day was when they jumped the broom, honoring TeQuia’s African roots and acknowledging the generations of love that came before them.
If there was one thing that defined this wedding, it was emotion.
The wedding speeches were deeply sentimental, filled with personal stories, gratitude, and so much love. Tears flowed freely...and not just from the couple. Nearly every speech ended the same way: with a three-way hug between the speaker, the bride, and the groom. Those moments spoke volumes about the kind of people TeQuia and John are and the strong, loving community surrounding them.
As a wedding photographer, what I loved most about this day was how visible the love was. Nothing felt staged or performative. The warmth, softness, and connection were present in every interaction... and you can see it in every photograph.
This was the kind of day where quiet moments mattered just as much as big ones. A squeeze of the hand. A tear wiped away mid-speech. Friends holding one another close. These are the moments that make wedding photography feel like storytelling rather than documentation.
