It always gets me when I come across real-life experiences that affirm that true love goes without parameters and is simply meant to be. My recent experience photographing Joyce and Tony's Southern California wedding is one such wonderful tale. Joyce and Tony were both widowers who found love again in each other. They were so darn cute and sweet. I’d talked to Joyce for hours on the phone frequently before their big day and when I finally got to meet them both in person, my heart was filled with warmth. Seeing this amazing couple find love again was beautiful and life-affirming and it made me believe that no matter what age you are, true love can always find a way!
Joyce And Tony’s Southern California Wedding
It was a fantastic day to photograph Joyce and Tony’s wedding at St. James Episcopal Church in Newport Beach CA. Looking at these two widowers in older age, glowing with excitement and happiness for their wedding was incredibly sweet and lovely. There was such an unbridled energy and joy in this amazing union. The church’s pews were full of their family and friends celebrating the bride and groom. Joyce and Tony seemed like two giddy kids exchanging sweet ‘I do’s’ while holding hands during their vows. No words can do justice to how heartfelt and emotional the moment felt.
Joyce and Tony’s couples portraits showed that the joy of being in love kept them young at heart. I couldn’t stop taking photos of how sweet they were - holding hands, beaming at each other and me, gracefully posing, and stealing a few kisses along the way. There was no mistaking the pure happiness radiating off of both of them - Joyce so charming and elegant and Tony so handsome and poised.
Joyce and Tony’s wedding reception was nothing short of a celebration to remember. After such an amazing ceremony, the guests moved to Five Crowns Restaurant in Corona del Mar for the second half of their jubilant celebration. The sight of Joyce and Tony holding hands while crossing the road spoke volumes about love and heartfelt connection. Shouts of joy, laughter, and clapping filled the venue as the newlyweds made their grand entrance.
During the toast, we all learned that Joyce and Tony are avid travelers and music lovers. They had recently gone to New Orleans and also hiked in Canada! Their kids gave memorable toasts that made everyone tear up noting how their deceased parent(s) could never be replaced but were definitely smiling at this new union. We were all laughing along with Tony's son who recited a creative and heartfelt poem he wrote about his dad and his new love. It was a wonderful event filled with touching moments that’ll stay with each of us for years to come.
